Network and alliances
KLM destinations
KLM regularly adds new destinations and cancels less profitable routes. For the best opportunities for profitable growth, it pays close attention to local economic and tourist developments, plus the relationship with the Netherlands. In 2024, KLM will fly to 156 destinations, 92 in Europe and 64 intercontinental.
Thanks to collaboration with partner airlines, KLM can offer an additional 525 destinations. Almost every place in the world can be reached from or via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
Collaboration with partner airlines
KLM's airline partner strategy has 3 essential building blocks. First, the participation in the Transatlantic joint venture with Air France, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic. Secondly, the participation in the joint venture with Air France and China Eastern Airlines between Europe and China. And thirdly, the broad spectrum of codeshare partners on every continent allows KLM to expand its presence worldwide. Examples of this are the partnerships with Kenya Airways in eastern Africa, Copa Airlines in Central America, Korean Air and Garuda in northern and southeastern Asia, Indigo in India, and Qantas in Australia.
In addition, our strategic partnership with GOL in Brazil is essential in remaining the first choice for all customers travelling between Europe and Brazil and the rest of South America. KLM works closely with Air France throughout the world. KLM and Air France are active participants in SkyTeam, the alliance of 19 airlines worldwide, to jointly offer its customers the most innovative and tailored products.
Connected hubs
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the essential hub in KLM's network. For Air France, this is Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The Air France KLM combination benefits from this dual-hub system, where the networks are closely interwoven. New destinations strengthen the hubs' position and thus increase Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's attractiveness for passengers and freight carriers.
